Medinet was invented by John Culter and Ron Ford in 1989. At that time, the Ministry of Health had just introduced mandatory electronic billing. This shift resulted in doctors purchasing computers for their offices. John and Ron saw an opportunity and sought to find other useful applications for the new technology.
John and Ron decided to build a network for doctors to talk to each other, and to their local hospitals and laboratories. In order for the network to be successful however, they recognized users would have to check into it regularly. Understanding that most doctors receive lab reports everyday, the developers came up with the idea that lab reports could provide the traffic base on Medinet. Later, other useful information could be put on the network to benefit everyone who joined.
Our first sending lab client was BC Biomedical Laboratories. Soon, doctors all across the province began joining Medinet to receive lab reports electronically. Shortly after, Metro-McNair Clinical Laboratories, as it was known then, and the BC Centre for Disease Control joined too, followed by Vancouver General Hospital and many others. Medinet Lab Reports has always been a free service to doctor's offices, hospitals, health units and laboratories. We're paid by our sending laboratory clients, in an effort to improve their service to you.
Although we are a software development company, we know our primary business is customer service. We understand our clients work in busy environments, often experiencing a lot of stress. We build easy, fast and convenient software tools to help make their jobs a little easier.
Sixteen years later, we're still going strong. With the introduction of Medinet Messaging and Pharmanet, in 1999, we have maintained our commitment to helping doctors, hospitals and laboratories connect with each other.
