About us

When the Ministry of Health introduced mandatory electronic billing in 1989, doctors began purchasing computers for their offices. John Culter and Dr. Ron Ford recognized an opportunity to develop useful computer applications for the medical community.

Medinet is a network for doctors to communicate with each other and their local hospitals and labs. To increase traffic on the network, John and Ron incorporated electronic Lab Report Delivery as an easy, fast and convenient alternative to receiving lab reports by mail or courier. In addition to this time saving service for doctors' offices, the Medinet creators realized their new network also had potential to offer other useful tools related to the practice of medicine.

Our first sending lab client was BC Biomedical Laboratories, followed by Metro-McNair Clinical Laboratories (now LifeLabs), the BC Centre for Disease Control, and Vancouver General Hospital. Soon, doctors across the province began joining Medinet to receive their lab reports electronically.

We are a software development company, but our primary business is customer service. We understand our clients work in busy environments, often experiencing a lot of stress. We build easy, fast and convenient software tools to help make their jobs a little easier.

Twenty years later, we're still going strong. With the introduction of Medinet Access to Pharmanet in 1999, we have maintained our commitment to helping doctors, hospitals and laboratories connect with each other.
